ASX Announcement

CONTINUING STRONG DRILL RESULTS AT BLAIR MINE

L03C Resource Upgrade Expected

Australian Mines (ASX:AUZ) continues to intersect significant mineralisation in its 2008 resource drilling at Blair Deeps at the Blair Mine, located 32km from Kalgoorlie WA.

Further high grade intersections in the L03C shoot suggest the strike extent of this shoot may be returning to lengths seen higher in the mine.

The contained nickel metal per vertical metre within L03C shoot can be expected to increase assuming that the trend of increasing shoot length is maintained.

The latest downhole intersections returned from L03C shoot are:
  • AMUG300 – 9.9m @ 3.08% Ni
  • AMUG302 – 7.8m @ 3.46% Ni

The E03C shoot has also returned further results which indicate the shoot is continuing at depth with similar style of mineralisation to that seen in the deepest level so far developed on the shoot, which is some 55m above the latest drill intersections.

The latest significant downhole intersection returned from E03C shoot is:
  • AMUG302 – 6.5m @ 3.27% Ni

N03C shoot has also returned mineralisation consistent with expectations, the latest downhole intersection being:
  • AMUG303 – 8.2m @ 1.97% Ni

Australian Mine’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr Brett Young said, “These encouraging results continue to build on the excellent resource results achieved thus far in our 2008 resource drilling programme, further underpinning the extension of the mine life at Blair.

“Given that Blair is mining at 50 – 60 vertical metres per year at present, drilling 100 vertical metres below the current workings and adding reserves is likely to increase mine life by at least 2 - 3 more years with the potential for further mine life due to the ore bodies remaining open at depth”.

The resource drilling programme is continuing with further drilling targeting depth extensions of the major ore shoots at Blair Deeps.
